I started my artistic career with an evening class in botanic art. This led me to the beginnings of my degree in design with the Foundation Course in Art and Design at Swindon College in 2000-2001. Having a keen interest in the impact of design on the environment, I was disappointed that few bricks and mortar universities offered the opportunity to study both design and environmental studies at that time. The Open University, however, with its open degree programme, allowed me to study elements of both resulting in a bespoke BSc degree that I describe as Design for a Sustainable Future.

I have been able to use both the design and sustainability aspects of my degree in my subsequent career as an accountant, particularly at the National Trust where I am able to meet our conservation experts with a modicum of understanding.

I am particularly interested in drawing for colouring in and abstract patterns which I sell via Facebook and my website www.thomzodesigns.co.uk. I also run courses in art and crafts. Look out for more course dates on the website.
